Local Outreaches
Project Homeless Connect Day
RICE helped with the 2nd Annual Homeless Connect Day-connecting downtown communities in December 2007. With the help of sponsors RICE International Relief Corporation was able to contribute to the Project Homeless Connect Day in the following ways:
- 2,000 people were served according to their need through-out the day
- 1900 Hygiene Kits and local Resource Directory were distributed
- There were 30 people helped with Mental Health Services
- 183 Flu shots were given
- 150 Hypertension tests were completed
- 22 RAPID HIV tests were given
- 33 applied for birth certificates to support California ID requests
- 51 California Identification cards were completed
- 221 dental screenings given
- 20 Warrants were recalled
- 745 bus tokens issued
There were over 200 volunteers to support those who attended
RICE was honored to be a part of this local effort to help the community, and is thankful to everyone who supported this cause.
The picture above is a man named Edward. He started to help breakdown empty boxes, and clean up, without being asked to do it. He was one of the people WE were helping with the project homeless day, and he ended up blessing us.
